By the Sea, By the Sea.....

We are who we are....I am a water sign, a Cancer. I grew up surrounded by water on the east end of Long Island. Contrary to current popular belief, Long Island is not just an extension of New York City. Where I grew up was farmland, cauliflower and potatoes, and Long Island duckling, all surrounded by water. Long Island Sound; Peconic Bay, the Atlantic Ocean. It's no wonder that I've ended up in Maine in Phippsburg, on a finger into the Atlantic. The photo above is Head Beach, the one at the tip of the finger.

I knew at the age of nine that I would be a Maker, and that is what I have indeed been most of my adult life. My primary medium is yarn, with a bunch of mathematics thrown in to aid in writing patterns, sequentially explaining how you can make what I made. Working the Textured Squares Throw CAL, I realized that I really enjoy producing HELPS as well as patterns. To that end, this next CAL will be Sea inspired, and involve some more new techniques, this time involving colorwork.
Please join us, if you would like to go on this sea journey with some crocheting friends!

The CAL itself will start the end of April, but I'll have materials lists ready by noon on April 1, and continue to write about the design process here, even before we actually start.

My NATCROMO Day.....

While this has been going on  in Mainly Crochet's FB pages, I wanted to share the experience with all the people who are following Crochetville's  National Crochet Month Blog Tour.
Be sure to check with them to see the whole month's full of designers!

Oh, the joy of making a variety of squares and learning new stitches! We recently concluded Mainly Crochet's Textured Squares Throw CAL, beginning from easiest and moving to more difficult squares, and then joining and edging as desired. I really wanted this to be a fun and educational crochet experience, with a nice finished project at the end of it.
The full antics of the group are available at:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1501862080115108/ along with photos of some wonderful completed projects.  For those who want to just get right to the squares.....
